Franz designed the new headquarters for Sony Music Finland, located in a historic former industrial building on Eerikinkatu in Helsinki. Originally built in the 1920s and once serving as a machine laboratory, the space was transformed into a true hybrid environment. The new design features office spaces, event venues, recording and photography studios, and a sauna department—all integrated across three floors. The extensive structural renovations and the change of use presented challenges, but also opened up the opportunity to create a completely new kind of functionality and atmosphere.
Thanks to a bold and imaginative client, the design didn't settle for safe or familiar choices when it came to colors and materials. While conservation regulations placed certain constraints on the transformation, the historical features of the building were embraced and accentuated—often integrated directly into the fixed furnishings. For loose furniture, carefully selected statement pieces were chosen to anchor the visual identity of the space. One of the standout elements of the project is the stunning custom gradient pink Kolho chairs by Made by Choice, adding a unique and playful yet refined touch to the interiors.
The end result is a one-of-a-kind, visually striking and immersive environment that moves to the rhythm of music—perfectly reinforcing Sony Music’s brand image and values.
